“Monitoring the internal perimeter contributes not only to strengthening the production performance but also to complying with the best health and safety standards. With the internalization, EF Solare becomes more and more an industrial operator and at the same time one of the main O&M operators in Italy, as well as primary operator for photovoltaic capacity managed in-house”

PREVENTION AND TIMELINESS: EF SOLARE’S MAINTENANCE MODEL

Maintenance is an essential lever to raise the quality standards and performance of PV systems. For this reason, over the years EF Solare has worked to create an organization that could ensure increasingly effective management over the maintenance of its plants.

From this point on, the Group’s goal has become to rationalize its collaborations with external suppliers, bringing maintenance services back within the company’s perimeter to have greater control of its assets, also stimulating more efficient predictive maintenance: we act in advance to manage strategic plants effectively, which require constant attention and timeliness.

This project is a paradigm shift for EF Solare, which has decided to internalize the maintenance and upgrading of 110 plants in 4 different regions (Puglia, Molise, Campania, and Sicily) for a total of 263 megawatts. This is an internal revolution designed to optimize processes: from hybrid plant management, with a part of core maintenance entrusted to external suppliers, to fully in-house management, at least in the most strategic geographical areas for the Group.

It is a change of pace that EF Solare is making in some of the regions with the largest installed capacity, where it is inaugurating a direct industrial approach. The vertical service integration is part of the overall industrialization strategy pursued since 2020 by the Group, which since 2023 has started a phase of vertical internalization of maintenance, with the goal of achieving the best quality standards.

The result is the so-called “EF model”, a set of maintenance practices and standardized procedures that have the goal of limiting faults and ensuring continuous plant operation. This model serves as a quality benchmark for the entire value chain, including the relationship with suppliers.

This process has required significant investment in training, specialized resources, and technical equipment, as well as the reorganization of materials and equipment management activities.

“The results of internalization are concrete and immediate. In recent years we have been able to avoid failures and serious interruptions precisely because of the timely response we have been able to ensure in emergency situations, as during the recent flooding in Catania when, thanks to effective internal management, we were able to drastically reduce the occurrence of criticalities and permanent damage.

Monitoring the internal perimeter contributes not only to strengthening the production performance but also to complying with the best health and safety standards. With the internalization, EF Solare becomes more and more an industrial operator and at the same time one of the main O&M operators in Italy, as well as primary operator for photovoltaic capacity managed in-house” commented Marco Ranno, Head of Maintenance.
