“Plant security is a key element in guaranteeing continuous and efficient production of clean energy. Our aim is to prevent possible problems and material damage to the plants that can create interruptions in their operation and therefore a lack of production.” – Francesco Palmieri, Head of Operations Support & Optimization.

OPTIMIZATION OF SECURITY AND SUPERVISION OF PLANTS TO GUARANTEE CONTINUITY OF PERFORMANCE

EF Solare, as the first photovoltaic operator in Italy, works every day to optimize the processes, activities and management of a large and widely distributed portfolio.

During the year, the Operations Support & Optimization team has developed several projects related to the optimization of the management of photovoltaic plants, including the definition and implementation of a new model of Security management, for a portfolio of about 600 MW, distributed in more than 200 plants.

The security system of the plants plays a key role in order to guarantee a continuous and efficient production of clean energy. For their nature, most of the photovoltaic plants are in fact located in peripheral areas with little anthropization and for this reason it is necessary to provide efficient and constantly monitored remote anti-intrusion and video surveillance systems, which are usually a mix of different technologies: thermal or Night & Day cameras, microwave or infrared barriers, underground pipe with pressure difference, microphone cable or fiber optic cable. Each solution has its advantages. The best system must be identified according to the characteristics and size of the plant. Thanks to the new management model implemented by EF Solare, companies that have been selected for the tender bidding process will be able to follow the entire security process: from the maintenance of the security equipment to the management of the control room, from the management of the connectivity necessary for alarm management to emergency services in the event of an alarm.

EF Solare, through a very careful selection of its suppliers, has also proceeded to an optimization of the contractual schemes, in order to create even more solid and lasting relationships with leading companies in the sector, obtaining an important rationalization of the suppliers also in geographical terms, in order to improve the management and timing of interventions. The close collaboration established with the chosen security companies will, in fact, make it possible to obtain higher awareness of security management for each territory and plant, each with its own specific plant requirements. The new investments for the efficiency of the anti-intrusion systems therefore represent an important implementation effort. The EF Solare team works every day to raise the quality of the services available with the aim of reducing theft and improving economic efficiency.

“Plant security is a key element in guaranteeing continuous and efficient production of clean energy. Our aim is to prevent possible problems and material damage to the plants that can create interruptions in their operation and therefore a lack of production. Each site has its own peculiarities, so, while looking for a certain standardization of portfolios, we have invested in the implementation, for each photovoltaic plant, of specific security systems. Thanks to the strong relationship and collaboration with leading companies in the industry we will continue to implement the best actions to safeguard every single kWh of clean energy” explained Francesco Palmieri, Head of Operations Support & Optimization.
