“EF Solare is a leader in the photovoltaic industry in Italy and one of the main operators in the sector at European level with almost 1 GW of plants in operation. We feel it is our duty to promote a sustainable economic recovery, an attack on technological innovation and aimed at accelerating the decarbonisation process. We are at a turning point for the European economy. It is necessary to enhance the resources put in place to support the energy transition in the coming years, which will have positive effects not only in environmental but also economic and social terms” . EF SOLARE JOINS THE CALL TO ASK THE EU TO RAISE THE CO2 TARGET TO 55%

“The time for climate action is now”

Thus ends the letter signed by 157 companies and associations, including EF Solare, to ask the EU Commission and Heads of State and Government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 by promoting confidence to invest at the pace and scale necessary to reduce emissions, create green jobs, drive innovation and accelerate the reconstruction of a resilient zero emissions economy.

Signing this letter prepared by CLG Europe (Corporate Leaders Group Europe), a European ecosystem working to address the impacts of climate change through the use of renewable energy sources, represents for EF Solare a further commitment to creating healthy communities and a greener post-Covid recovery.

The invitation that EF Solare and the other signatories make to European leaders is:

– to endorse the ambition set out in the European Green Deal

– to submit resilient recovery plans which enable the green investments needed to deliver climate neutrality

– to agree a clearly defined target to reduce domestic greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 and associated objectives

The intention of this letter is also to contribute to an ambitious global regime, rather than a fragmented political landscape that hinders investment and the implementation of the solutions we need to accelerate the energy transition.

Diego Percopo, CEO of EF Solare, comments on the decision to join this initiative: “EF Solare is a leader in the photovoltaic industry in Italy and one of the main operators in the sector at European level with almost 1 GW of plants in operation. We feel it is our duty to promote a sustainable economic recovery, an attack on technological innovation and aimed at accelerating the decarbonisation process. We are at a turning point for the European economy. It is necessary to enhance the resources put in place to support the energy transition in the coming years, which will have positive effects not only in environmental but also economic and social terms”.

In fact, this is the moment to take the right decisions to protect the economy and the environment to make Europe the first climate neutral continent by 2050. The objectives to be achieved are common and the message of cohesion of so many operators in the sector can only strengthen the determination with which EF Solare has always fought to accelerate the reconstruction of a zero-carbon economy.

The hope is that the EU Commission, the Heads of State and Government, will give priority to the actions necessary to support a safe and prosperous EU, now and in the future.
